Patrick Varriano is a landscape artist whose favorite subjects are usually found on old farm sites in Western Pennsylvania. His subjects include old oil wells, outbuildings and rusted, abandoned vehicles and machinery. Drawn to these old, weather-beaten objects he has developed an array of rough textures that make his subjects seem like part of the earth itself. He paints in his studio from photographs taken on site.

Patrick studied art at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, and is a signature member of the following organizations:

• Pennsylvania Watercolor Society
• South Hills Art League
• North East Watercolor Society

Three of Patrick's painting will be featured in the upcoming Best of American Watermedia Artists, Volume II, to be published by Kennedy Publishing this year.

Patrick has also been featured in Watercolor Magazine (an American Artist publication) for his development of rough textures in earth tones. Using techniques he has developed over the years, he manages to show the viewer the beauty in usually overlooked places.
